Surveillance in public space is omnipresent. At railway-stations, supermarkets, cash desks and many other places, we see cameras recording our actions. But what are these cameras actually seeing and recording? As soon as these cameras are provided with technology such as artificial intelligence, algorithms can be used to analyze and interpret the data in real time. With the help of AI surveillance tools, individuals can be monitored and tracked. "Computers watching cameras watching people" addresses the issue by highlighting and questioning the ubiquitous and increasingly smart surveillance in public spaces. The reader himself becomes an observer and gains insight into the data read out by surveillance systems.
